“We’re doing this as part of our continued effort to run the company more efficiently and to allow us to offset the other investments we’re making,” Meta’s chief people officer, Janelle Gale, wrote in a memo announcing the news to staff. Much of those “other investments” involve building out Meta’s artificial-intelligence infrastructure, including its data centers.
